CKV what should you do with it?!
Cultural artistic education is mandatory for all students in secondary education. Art and culture are part of life. Through art and culture you learn to discover society and the world. Knowledge of our own art and culture (history) and that of others makes an important contribution to your personal development and provides social equipment. Art is about imagination, insight, thinking power, motor skills and the transfer of ideas - qualities that are valuable in all areas of life (Akademie van Kunsten, 2019).
In the lessons you will get to know different art forms. You will do this mainly by looking at and experiencing art and talking about it with each other. Art and culture can be divided into different disciplines. In our lessons we emphasize the following;
Theater
Visual arts and architecture
Film
Music
Dance
Using various themes, we delve into the above art disciplines. The lessons are divided into themes; heroes, film, music and the city, love and not normal.
The CKV subject consists of 4 domains;
Explore ; You explore and share your own interests and experiences and those of your classmates. You activate your prior knowledge .
Broaden ; You enjoy a performance or exhibition more if you have some theoretical background information. So you have to be somewhat aware of what the different disciplines have to offer. You get to know and recognize .
Deepening ; For the practical assignments you have to research a (facet) of the theme yourself. You make a report of the cultural activities so that you are forced to put your experiences into words. You make it your own by doing .
Connecting ; The practical assignments are not only aimed at knowledge, but especially at forming and substantiating your own opinion. You learn best from each other and with each other. You do not have to find everything you encounter beautiful or nice, but it is important that you can describe (or imagine) why you find something nice, beautiful, ugly or inspiring. You learn to reflect on yourself and on others.
