PO Music

The assignment

You can complete this PA individually or in pairs. This time, you can choose between two types of PAs:

The Sing-a-Songwriter

If you choose this option, you probably already have some experience in the music world. You'll be creating your own single! Choose a song, replace the lyrics with lyrics that relate to you, explain your reasoning, and play/sing the song! You can use programs like "Garageband" or "Bandlab" for this.

You'll also create your own album cover. How you do this is up to you! Take a look at other well-known LP covers, for example, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" or "Abbey Road" by the Beatles, "Aladdin Sane" by David Bowie, "Deep Purple in Rock" by Deep Purple, "The Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd, "Nevermind" by Nirvana, or "Born in the USA" by Bruce Springsteen.

Make sure your album represents YOU.

The VJ

If you choose this option, your preference will be less for producing music and more for visual design. You have already practiced synesthesia and visualizing music in assignments 3 and 4 of this theme.

You will choose (part of) a piece of music and create an animation for it using stop motion. You can develop the animation with abstract shapes, digital tools, or other materials of your choice. Remember the examples you saw in class.

You can create the stop motion animation using the free app Stop Motion Studio and it will take at least 1.5 minutes (approximately 120 frames).

Judgement

You can earn a total of 10 points again this time.

What do you hand in:

1. musical/literary product (4)

2. visual product (4)

3. reflection (2)

There is a submission assignment ready in Peppels. The PO should contain the following: (front page), idea and argumentation of product, musical/literary product, a photo of the visual product or an MP4 of the stopmotion and finally a reflection on the process.

Please note: If you use existing music you must mention the title and artist. Also if you use AI you must mention which software you used.
